Canelo Álvarez not ruling out Jake Paul bout
Jake Paul and Kamaru Usman have challenged Canelo Álvarez, but the Mexican boxer isn’t interested at this point in his career.
It’s little over a week to go until Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez takes on Gennady Golovkin at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, with the super middleweight belts at stake and the Mexican boxer continues to ramp up the tension with his pre-fight comments.
In an interview with FightHype.com, the Guadalajara-born boxer declared that he would not rule out participating in exhibition fights against mixed martial arts stars or youtubers-turned-professional fighters like Kamaru Usman or Jake Paul once he has reached all of his goals in boxing.
"I do not know. Not now. I want to have great fights and make boxing history. Maybe when I'm done with boxing I might do that kind of fight,” Álvarez said.
Anyone can lose
Usman, who challenged Álvarez last April via social media, lost his last fight in the UFC to Leon Edwards in one of the most recent upsets in UFC history. mixed martial arts and the Mexican gave his opinion on it. ”It’s something that happens, it’s part of the sport,” Canelo said. “Anyone can lose, you never know. I think he was winning, right? One punch changed everything, he is a great fighter.”
Álvarez also lost his last fight. The boxer was defeated by Dmitry Bivol through a unanimous decision by the judges when moving up to the light heavyweight category.
