Since the beginning of the year the name of Saúl Canelo Álvarez has been part of the conversation in the world of boxing, and it came to a head with the defeat he suffered last May against Dmitry Bivol of Russian n the 175 pound-division of the light heavyweights.

Canelo out of the list

Now that the year is about to come to an end, Canelo did not appear among the best pound-for-pound boxers of 2022, in a list released by the boxing promoter Top Rank, which manages a host of its own fighters.

According to the list, there are four finalists for best boxer of the year: British fighter Tyson Fury, Naoya Inoue of Japan, and Americans Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson.

It seems that the Mexican’s victory last September against GGG Gennady Golovkin, in the closing of their trilogy, was not enough for him to gain access to the positions given by Top Rank.
