Carolina avoids the sweep, Dallas returns the break and leads 2:1
The Hurricanes defeated the New York Rangers 4:3 away and thus remained in the series, reducing it to 3:1; the Stars keep their playoffs shine.

In the NHL playoffs, the Carolina Hurricanes made an impressive comeback after falling behind 3-0 in the series against the New York Rangers. Unlike the NBA, where a team losing 3-0 is unlikely to turn things around, the NHL playoffs historically offer more hope for teams that fall behind early on.

In the fourth game of the series, the Hurricanes managed to prolong the series decision by winning the game. After the first period, the home team led 3-1 with goals from Kuznetsov, Noesen, and Aho. Kylie scored the only goal for the visitors. However, from then on, only Carolina’s net shook. Goodrow reduced the score to 3-2, and Lavrenier equalized at the beginning of the decisive period. But Carolina scored with only three minutes left through Skjei to win 4-3. This victory allowed them to return the series to New York and gave them a chance to turn things around.
Similarly, Dallas showed that a two-game deficit in favor of the opponent can be overcome. Two games ago, Colorado had a 1-1 tie on their ice, but the Stars immediately retaliated with a break. They celebrated a 4-1 victory in style, with Tyler Seguin and Stankoven each scoring two goals, while Miko Rantanen scored the only goal for Colorado. This victory helped Dallas level the series, showing that a team can come back even when the odds seem stacked against them.
