When Rafa Nadal defeated Casper Ruud in the French Open to win his 14th trophy at the tournament and 22nd Grand Slam, and becoming the oldest player to ever do so, several of his fans celebrated at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca.

Ruud himself trained at the Nadal Academy and he thanked Nadal after losing to him.

“We all know what a champion you are and today. I got to feel how it is to play against you in a final and it’s not easy,” said Ruud. “I’m not the first victim and I know that there have been many before,” Ruud laughed.

“And again, to you Rafa, to your team, your family, taking me into your academy with open arms and also to my family, so thank you a lot,” he said.

Several fans came to the Rafa Nadal Academy on Sunday to watch the tournament between Nadal and Ruud. They were not disappointed as they witnessed Nadal win it all and make history.

“He’s the best player in the world, no doubt,” said a fan after witnessing Nadal go 6-3, 6-3, and 6-0 against the Norweigan to claim the title. “I mean, bye bye Djokovic. Rafa all the way. Rafa is the king.”
