Conor McGregor will soon return to the octagon for the first time since he broke his leg in 2021, to face Michael Chandler in a possible welterweight bout.

Conor McGregor is back, and he will make his return not just on TV but in the octagon as well.

Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White had announced that McGregor would embark on his UFC comeback by coaching the next season of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) against Chandler, after which the two would go head-to-head in the cage.

TUF will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+ from May 30 to Aug. 15, and the big fight will take place after the season ends.

A heavier weight division

White did not give details for the showdown, and said that they would reveal more information about the fight soon. The date and location of the bout are not yet known, but MMA expert Ariel Helwani said on The Ringer MMA Show that the fight will be at the welterweight division, at 170 pounds.

Both fighters had most recently been competing at lightweight, or 155 pounds, and have also fought at welterweight in the past. The two have expressed their desire to fight in the heavier weight class.
