Conor McGregor makes his big-screen debut on ‘Road House’ remake
Irish fighter Conor McGregor trades his MMA gloves for a stab at the movies via Amazon Prime Video’s reinvention of the ‘80s hit ‘Road House’.
Conor McGregor has become one of the great figures in the world of sports. The UFC fighter was the world’s highest-paid athlete in 2021, according to Forbes. The MMA star has also stepped into the ring to fight Floyd Mayweather.
The Irishman has done it all, both in the world of sports and outside of it, where he has established himself as an entrepreneur by founding his own whisky, Proper No. Twelve, and several pubs located in his country. But now he is preparing for his debut in a new sphere, that of being a movie actor.
His premiere on the big screen
McGregor will move from the small screen to the movies, where he has been confirmed as one of the cast of the Amazon Prime Video reinvention of ‘Road House’, a hit that shone in the 80s and starred Patrick Swayze, and will star Jake Gyllenhaal in its reincarnation.
“Wrestling icon Conor McGregor expands his storied career into film to join Jake Gyllenhaal in the reimagining of the beloved classic, ‘Road House’,” Amazon Prime Video said in a statement on their official Twitter profile.
The film tells the story of a former MMA fighter, played by Gyllenhaal, who accepts a new job as a bouncer at a roadside bar in the Florida Keys. However, what is not yet known is the role that McGregor will have, although it will likely show off his talents in fighting.
In this way, McGregor will hit the big screen after having starred in several commercials for different brands on television. It will do so in the hands of Amazon Studios after it took over production after the sale of MGM.
