Crawford and Spence Jr, confident of beating each other
‘Bud’ believes he will get his hand raised when he faces Errol Spence Jr., but the Long Island native has his own plans in a megafight for welterweight supremacy.
In a year full of super fights, the Terence Crawford-Errol Spence Jr. bout is probably the icing on the cake.
Both fighters have been the most dominant in the welterweight division, with the Omaha native (39-0) holding the WBO title and The Truth (28-0) owning the IBF, WBA, and WBC belts.
After years of waiting for this matchup to take place, fans will finally have the chance to see both men going at it to see who’s the very best at 147 lbs on July 29.
Crawford’s last fight took place in December 2022, when he knocked David Avanesyan out in the sixth round, while Spence Jr. hasn’t been in the ring since April 2022, when he defeated Yordenis Ugás by TKO in the 10th.
Crawford & Spence reveal their intentions
Both champions met on Tuesday for their kick-off press conference for next month’s bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It was the first time both men went face-to-face to size each other up and Crawford took advantage of the moment to send a warning message to his opponent:
“I think everything is a key point in the fight. You got my jab; you got my movement, you got my counter-punching ability, and you got my brain with the way I think. Just all around”.
“You all are going to witness greatness. We measure greatness by eras. July 29, I’m going to show everyone why this era is the Terence Crawford era”, he stated.
Spence Jr. is also aware that this is by far, the most important fight of his career. And he didn’t bite his tongue either when it came to letting his rival know what he is up for.
“This is the biggest fight in boxing right now. This is a legendary fight. It’s an old-school fight. This is like the fights my dad used to tell me about. It’s the best fighting the best”.
“Everybody tune in and come out to the fight because we’re gonna have a Craw-fish boil. And there’s gonna be enough for everybody. I promise you that”, he added.
“Terence is a great fighter and I’m gonna break another great fighter’s will. Mentally and physically, I’m gonna dominate and come out on top.” Spence concluded.
While it’s almost impossible to predict who will get his hand raised after the fight, what is a sure thing is that boxing and sports fans will be the big winners, as the clash between both undefeated and pound-for-pound greats promises to go down in history.
