De La Hoya slams Canelo again: what did he say about Saul Alvarez?

The charismatic promoter attacked Canelo on social media in another confrontation episode with the Guadalajara native.

The charismatic promoter attacked Canelo on social media in another confrontation episode with the Guadalajara native.

Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez don’t like each other and the promoter has proved it again. The former world champion attacked the undisputed super middleweight king on social media, saying the Mexican superstar is afraid of facing David Benavidez.

The 51-year-old De La Hoya and Alvarez had a heated argument during the Alvarez vs Jaime Munguia pre-fight press conference, with The Golden Boy accusing the Guadalajara native of being disrespectful and ungrateful and the boxer saying De la Hoya took advantage of his popularity to make lots of money and even steal money from other fighters he promoted.

Canelo was expected to take on the undefeated Benavidez in a potential super clash, but Eddy Reynoso’s fighter said that matchup would only happen if he’s offered $200 million. Alvarez was criticized by many after his comments and one of them was the promoter.

Benavidez is getting ready to take on Oleksandr Gvozdyk on Saturday night at 175 lbs, a division where he will try to become the undisputed champion, as he wasn’t the chance to fight for all the marbles at super middleweight against Canelo.

The Mexican Monster slammed the Mexican during an interview for not fighting him, and now De La Hoya criticized Alvarez for not stepping into the ring with Benavidez and fighting Munguia instead.

“You lined my pockets and made Jaime Munguia a s*** load of money, all because you’re afraid of David Benavidez. F*** you”, he said.

Although Oscar keeps attacking his former fighter under Golden Boy Promotions, many fans don’t understand the hate, as Alvarez decided to take on Munguia, one of De La Hoya’s fighters, giving him a payday many believed the young fighter deserved.
