European Athletics Championships 2022: when is it and where is it held?

The most important athletics competition on the Old Continent returns after two decades to the German city of Munich.

The World Championships have just ended, but athletics competitions don’t stop. This sport, like most disciplines, is returning to normal after suffering from the covid-19 pandemic. This situation caused many competitions to be postponed, and the European Championship was no exception. This event was meant to have happened in 2020, but could not take place.

The circumstances are completely different, and in every way. This competition, which was to be held in the capital of France, Paris, will no longer be held there. There has been a change of venue, and the country chosen so that the best athletes from the Old Continent can compete for the medals is Germany, a location that has not been visited for two decades.

European Athletics Championships 2022: when is it and where is it held?

The place where this competition, one of the most outstanding in the world of sport, is going to be held is the city of Munich. A place that has not hosted a European athletics competition since 2002, when the XVII European competition was held. It will be the second time in history that this German town, one of the most significant in the Central European country, hosts this event.

Another point to take into account are the dates on which the tournament will be held. Just a month after the World Championships end in Oregon, European athletes will be both in the Olympic Stadium in Munich and on the streets of the city competing. From August 15 to 21 events are scheduled to take place in Germany and will take the focus of the world of athletics.
