Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight in Mexico for the first time this weekend. Almost seven years after his retirement, the former five-division world champion will return to the ring on August 24 in an exhibition clash in the Mexican capital.

Money wants to stay active despite hanging up the gloves and considering his charisma and his impressive career, he has plenty of opportunities to feature in non-official matches that can give him some lucrative amounts of money.

The, now 47-year-old, considered one of the best defensive fighters of all time, managed to avoid defeat as a professional boxer. His last fight before retiring occurred in 2017 when he took on UFC superstar Conor McGregor in a 12-round battle.

The Grand Rapids native defeated the Irishman in the 10th round via TKO in a fight where the American made around $280 million, while The Notorious earned approximately $130 million.

Who will Mayweather Jr. fight in Mexico?

Mayweather Jr. will fight an opponent he already faced, John Gotti III. The event will be held at Mexico City Arena, in Azcapotzalco, Mexico City.

Money’s first fight on Aztec soil was in doubt because his first choice, Victor Ortiz, didn’t reach a financial agreement, but Gotti III agreed to face him again.

The first fight between Mayweather and the grandson of the legendary kingpin John Gotti was also an exhibition, but it was very controversial. The chaos was total at the FLA Live Arena, in Florida, as the event erupted into a mass brawl.

Tickets for the event are in high demand, with prices starting at $76 on Vivid Seats and reaching up to $23,280 for premium seats. Fans eager to witness this historic encounter can also tune in via DAZN, ensuring that the excitement reaches a global audience.

Considering how expensive it is to watch the fight in the arena, it may be more interesting to know how many people will attend the Mexico City Arena than to witness who comes out on top.
