Fury reveals who he will fight if there’s no bout with Usyk

The ‘Gipsy King’ hopes the mega bout with the Ukrainian fighter happens, but if the negotiations fail, he has another opponent in mind.

Update:
The ‘Gipsy King’ hopes the mega bout with the Ukrainian fighter happens, but if the negotiations fail, he has another opponent in mind.

2023 certainly promises to be a great year for fight fans. The UFC has already announced some huge bouts in the upcoming weeks and will probably keep offering the fights that the audience is asking for the rest of the year.

In boxing, those ‘dream fights’ don’t happen that often but surprisingly, this time there are already some big bouts scheduled for the upcoming months.

David Benavidez vs Caleb Plant, Gervonta Davis vs Ryan García, Errol Spence vs Keith Thurman or Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenko are some of them.

However, there’s one fight that stands out among all of them: the potential clash between the two heavyweight and undefeated kings, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Unfortunately, even if the bout is scheduled to take place in April, it’s not a done deal, as negotiations are still ongoing and there hasn’t been an agreement yet on the money.

Francis Ngannou: the chosen one

If the worst scenario happens and Fury and Usyk don’t get to fight each other, the British superstar has an ace up his sleeve to offer the fans another big showdown.

Promoter Frank Warren said the Gipsy King revealed to him that his backup option is former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

That is an option that Tyson has mentioned to me if this fight falls through, but I don’t think it will fall through,” said Frank Warren to Secondsout.

In fact, Fury had been speaking about this matchup during the last months, saying it would be a hybrid fight inside the cage.

In fact, it is an interesting option for him, as facing an MMA superstar like Ngannou, who has been knocking out almost all of his opponents in the UFC, would bring a lot of money to him and he would be the understandable favorite to get away with the win.

But things could get interesting If Fury agrees to fight with 4-ounce gloves, as he could be in trouble if Ngannou catches him with a big shot.
