Fury says he would fight Wilder a fourth time in the UK

The ‘Gipsy King’, who will be back in action in December after announcing his retirement doesn’t rule out another megafight with knockout artist Deontay Wilder

The Fury vs Wilder III was certainly one of the most spectacular boxing matches in recent times and after the outcome, with Fury winning by KO, many thought the series between the two heavyweights was over.

However, the British superstar has opened up about a fourth clash with the ‘Bronze Bomber’ in an interview with BT Sport, but if the fight was to be finally made, it would be in the UK.

Fury, who will face another old foe in Derek Chisora on December 3 in what is hoped to be a ‘tune up’ clash before fighting Oleksandr Usyk, also admitted that Wilder’s path to get the fight would be possible if he manages to defeat Andy Ruiz Jr. in a final eliminator for the WBC belt that Fury currently holds.

“Deontay Wilder is now fighting Andy Ruiz Junior for a final eliminator to fight me,” Fury said.

“Now [a fourth fight] would be amazing here at Wembley again, wouldn’t it? I’ve been over there [to America] three times now”, he added.

Fury “needs” to fight Joshua before he retires

But if a fourth fight with Wilder wasn’t enough, Fury went beyond and stated he doesn’t want to leave the sport without fighting another boxing icon, Anthony Joshua.

Discussions over a potential bout between Fury and Joshua were held following AJ’s defeat in a second fight against Usyk in August.

After that, Fury challenged Joshua to a fight via a video on social media, to which Joshua accepted, saying he would be “ready in December”.

I don’t think I can retire today because I need that Joshua fight,” Fury said on the High Performance Podcast.

“We have been trying to make that fight for years. It’s the fight that people want to see. It’s the fight that I want to see as a boxing fan”, Fury said.

British heavyweights Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois could also be a serious threat to Fury’s dominance in the heavyweight division, but the 33-year-old great still prefers to have Joshua on his resume.

“For the last four or five years, there has been this three-headed monster: me, Wilder, Joshua,” said the unbeaten boxer.

“All of a sudden, you’ve got some new people coming up now - Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois, Usyk’s gate-crashed the party (...) but I think it would be an absolute dying travesty if me and Joshua didn’t fight in this era”, he concluded.
