Oleksandr Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas has confirmed that the clash between Tyson Fury and the Ukrainian boxer for the undisputed heavyweight title is almost a done deal. The fighters’ teams were in negotiations weeks before the Briton’s fight with Dereck Chisora (33-13-0, 23 KO) last weekend. The potential dates are February 18 or March 4, and the bout will take place in a Middle Eastern country.

Fury’s long wait

Fury (33-0-1, 24 KO) had been asking for this fight for a long time. There was already talk of a possible clash between the two when Usyk (33-13-0, 23 KO) defeated Anthony Joshua for the second time in August. Promoter Frank Warren said that the boxers’ teams wanted them to face each other for title unification.

However, Usyk decided to stay away from the ring for a season due to the situation that Ukraine is experiencing, and chose to be with his family. The time has come for the two heavyweights to meet face-to-face.

Fury challenges Usyk

After defeating Dereck Chisora in the trilogy finale with a tenth-round TKO at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of 60,000 people, the Gypsy King sent a challenge to the Ukrainian, who was in the audience. The fighters entered the ring and Fury faced Usyk, who remained stoic. “See you soon”, replied the Ukrainian.

Despite the fact that he had sent several insults to him through his social networks, Fury praised Usyk in a recent interview with talkSPORT, where he compared him to Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali.

He highlighted the height of the Ukrainian, who only measures 1.90 meters, considerably less than the British, who reaches 2.06 meters. “I’ve been traveling the world looking for someone who will really challenge me, someone who can beat me,” Fury said.

The fight is ‘almost done,’ and soon we may see one of the most anticipated heavyweight bouts and the unification of all the division’s belts.
