Hokit sparks outrage at UFC Freedom 250: “Michelle Obama is a man!”
The American fighter, who taunted Ilia Topuria before the event, delivered another controversial moment after knocking out Derrick Lewis.
UFC Freedom 250 at the White House produced an embarrassing scene Sunday night.
Josh Hokit, the fighter who had already made headlines for taunting Ilia Topuria in the lead-up to the event and reportedly appeared intoxicated at the weigh-in, sparked fresh controversy after knocking out Derrick Lewis.
The American climbed out of the cage and handed a pendant to a delighted Donald Trump, who immediately put it on without even checking what it was. Hokit then launched into an extraordinary post-fight speech.
He renewed his challenge to Alex Pereira, compared himself to Jesus Christ, and insulted former First Lady Michelle Obama while standing in front of another former First Lady, Melania Trump.
“I’m a man with a plan. Forget the speech. Thanks to Trump for having the guts to put on this event. There’s only one person greater than the incredible Hokit, and that’s Jesus Christ. Alex Pereira, I want to do it with your mother. And finally, Michelle Obama is a man,” Hokit shouted as stunned spectators looked on.
The comments immediately became one of the most talked-about moments of the night, overshadowing what had been an impressive victory over Lewis.
Hokit has become one of the most controversial figures on the card, drawing attention throughout fight week with a series of provocative remarks and incidents. His latest outburst is likely to generate as many headlines as his performance inside the Octagon.
