The boxer from Guadalajara has had a remarkable career, winning 12 world championship belts in various weight classes and leaving a lasting impression on the sport. Known for his charming personality, he has become a fan favorite, especially in his home country of Mexico.

Canelo successfully defended his super middleweight titles from the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF), and World Boxing Council (WBC) against John Ryder on May 6. The fight was held in Guadalajara, Mexico.

As part of his agreement with PBC Promotions, he will take on Jermell Charlo in his next fight, which will surely be an exciting battle. The deal includes provisions for him to participate in three more fights, earning him a staggering $100 million.

On Saturday, Canelo is a massive favorite to defeat Charlo in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, that probably makes the American an even more dangerous challenge for the Mexican, who doesn’t want to underestimate his opponent.

Who defeated Canelo?

Canelo is one of the active fighters with the most fights in his career, having featured in 63 fights so far.

His footwork, movement, and powerful punches have given him the win in most of his fights, but he has also tasted defeat: Álvarez has won 59 out of his 63 fights, losing two and drawing another two.

The first of those two defeats occurred in 2013 when a young Canelo lost the WBC and The Ring light middleweight titles to Floyd Mayweather Jr., who defeated him via unanimous decision.

His second loss was relatively recent, as it happened last year. The Mexican great decided to move up in weight to 175 lbs. to face the unbeaten Dmitry Bivol for the WBA super light heavyweight title. Still, the Russian’s size and power were two obstacles challenging to overcome, and Álvarez was outpointed.

His two draws were against Jorge Juárez at the beginning of his career and Golovkin in the first of their three fights. However, most boxing analysts and fans saw GGG winning that fight, one of the most controversial in the last few years.
