The third bout between Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez and Gennady Golovkin resulted in a unanimous decision win for the super middleweight champion, and according to the platform that streamed the fight, more than a million viewers tuned in to watch it.

DAZN Boxing said that the fight between Álvarez and Golovkin generated 1.06 million buys globally. The first two fights between the Kazakh and the Mexican were broadcast on HBO Boxing and generated 1.3 and 1.1 million purchases respectively.

Prior to DAZN’s statement, various media reported that the company had only managed to generate between 550,000 and 575,000 payments for the third fight between the boxers.

Canelo vs. GGG III: DAZN’s biggest fight of the year

DAZN says the boxing event that was held in partnership with Matchroom Sport, Canelo Promotions, and GGG Promotions, was the platform’s biggest fight of the year both internationally and in the United States. For new subscribers in the US, the fight cost $84.98 and for old subscribers it was $64.99.
