2023 STANLEY CUP

Have the Florida Panthers ever been to the Stanley Cup finals?

Florida is a case of feast or famine when it comes to hockey, and the two teams within the sunshine state demonstrate that idea perfectly.

Florida Panthers are trying to keep the Edmonton Oilers from coming back after being down 3-0 in the 2024 Stanley Cup.

While the Sunshine State has, somewhat incongruously, two NHL teams, they could not have a history that is more different.

The Tampa Bay Lightning may have won three Stanley Cups and sit on the verge of becoming one of the NHL’s all-time great franchises, but their Miami counterparts are just now enjoying their third ever trip to the final.

As a new expansion team in 1993, the Florida Panthers could have been expected to take some time to grow into championship caliber. Now in 2024, however, they are entering their third decade, and while that may not seem much time, just across the state, there is another local rival who has romped their way to three titles.

Florida’s season has been impressive, with a 53-24-6 record. They allowed 200 goals and scored 268 with captain Aleksander Barkov leading the way. The top goal-scorer was Sam Reinhart with 57 and Matthew Tkachuk was the team leader in assists. The Panthers are looking to celebrate their 30th year in the league with their first Stanley Cup title. The got of to a strong start, going 3-0 up on the Edmonton Oilers, but the Canadian squad has battled back to even the series and game 7 will be decided tonight in Florida.
