How many times have the Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup?

After two months of action, the Stanley Cup Playoffs have ended. And the last team standing highest on the podium is the Vegas Golden Knights.

In the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, the Desert team won against the Florida Panthers, grabbing their first championship title in six years of establishment. The Vegas Golden Knights claimed the Stanley Cup victory on Tuesday, as they dominated the Florida Panthers with a score of 9-3. The ecstatic fans at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip couldn’t contain their joy.

Have the Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup before?

No, they haven’t. Though it was imposing to see them make it to the championship series in their inaugural season back in 2018, the Washington Capitals ultimately ended their title hopes, winning the series in five games to claim their first-ever Stanley Cup. Of course, a lot has changed since that fateful first year, which is to say not only has the NHL’s youngest franchise frequented the postseason during these last six years, but once again, they are back in Stanley Cup Final, and quite frankly, look like a decent bet to win it.

What’s up with the Golden Knights in 2023?

Honestly, Vegas’ offense has been firing on all cylinders this postseason. Indeed, their league-high 62 goals are a testament to that fact. William Karlsson, who has set the franchise record for most goals in one postseason with 10, is a major contributor to that tally. At the same time, Jonathan Marchessault has scored nine times, and Chandler Stephenson has posted 7 goals of his own.

Mention should also be made of Jack Eichel, who is tied for fourth in scoring with 18 points in his very first postseason, while Marchessault has put 17 on the board heading into the Final on the back of a five-game run in which he has scored four goals and made three assists. At 32 years old, Marchessault and Karlsson are among the six remaining members of the Golden Knights squad that reached the Final in 2018 - their inaugural season in the league. That’s not to say there is limited pedigree in this team. Quite the opposite as Vegas has six other players that have won a Cup with other clubs - including Alec Martinez, Phil Kessel, and Jonathan Quick, who have won two championships each.
