The Solheim Cup is a much-looked-forward-to event in the world of golf that takes place every two years. It is a prestigious tournament in which women’s professional golf teams compete. Players from European and US teams exchange their golf clubs for the opportunity to participate in this esteemed event.

The first cup occurred in 1990, most recently in September 2021, at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. Team Europe won over the Americans in their previous match with a final score of 15-13.

But is there any money being earned by the players?

In this age of golfers swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck, it’s shocking to discover that the Solheim Cup is a no-money zone.

Given the tournament’s size and importance, the players play for their commitment to their country rather than for a purse.

This competition is the equivalent of the men’s Ryder Cup. Although there is no money exchange, the organizing body is committed to charity. Back in 2027, the US tournament raised up to $2 million in philanthropy.
