How much does it cost to play a round at Royal Portrush? Green fees at the 2025 Open Championship venue
The first round of the 2025 British Open got underway in Portrush (Northern Ireland) on Thursday with a participating field of 156 players.
156 of the world’s top golfers have descended onto the scenic town of Portrush in Northern Ireland with the course offering some spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the small archipelago of Skerries Islands.
Defending champion Xander Schauffele will be looking to retain his 2024 crown but all eyes at Royal Portrush will be on local hero Rory McIlroy with the Hollywood (Belfast) born only lifting the Claret Jug once and that was back in 2014.
Royal Portrush is set to host the The Open only for the third time with the course widely regarded by many top players as one of the finest links courses in the world with each hole offering a unique challenge.
Playing at Portrush
Playing a round of golf at Royal Portrush Golf Club, especially on their championship Dunluce Links course, can be quite expensive due to its prestige and status as an Open Championship venue.
A round at the Dunluce Links (the championship course that hosts The Open) will see players forking out a green fee of £420 ($560) per person which is a considerable uplift from 2024’s green fee of £340.

The other course at Royal Portrush (The Valley Links) is considerably more economical with 18 holes available with a green fee is £200 ($267) per person.
