Grupo Vidanta is a Mexican conglomerate involved in designing, constructing, financing, and maintaining hotels, resorts, cruises, and associated infrastructure. Daniel Chávez Morán founded Grupo Vidanta and is one of Latin America’s most influential leaders in tourism, entertainment, and hospitality. His company also owns and manages the most famous golf courses in Mexico.

As a matter of fact, Grupo Vidanta owns seven golf courses under the Vidanta Golf Brand at Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Acapulco, and Puerto Peñasco. A Jack Nicklaus Golf Academy opened in Nuevo Vallarta in July 2012, the fifteenth Nicklaus Academy worldwide.

The Mexico Open is in its third year as a PGA Tour event after being a part of the PGA Tour Latinoamerica. The tournament is held at Vidanta Vallarta’s Norman Signature Course, designed by LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman and opened in 2016. Unlike many PGA Tour venues, the Norman Signature Course is open to everyone. It is located alongside the Ameca River and provides beautiful views of the Sierra Madre mountains, which lie on the border between Jalisco and Nayarit. Additionally, the course features the world’s longest golf cart suspension bridge.

The Norman Signature Course is known for its water features, as players make their way towards contoured greens that are often guarded by large bunkers, typical of Norman’s courses. You’ll find 15 lakes and 88 bunkers scattered all over the course, but with wide fairways, it offers a fair challenge for every player level, depending on which of the four tees you use. The large landing areas off the tee lead to expansive, undulating greens that Norman-style, cavernous bunkers guard. The core course layout is surrounded by indigenous trees, native grasses, and jungle, with no housing or urban structures interrupting the natural surroundings.

The green fees range from $195 to $270 per person per tee time, depending on the time of day you play. The lower fee applies after 2.30 pm and includes a cart and one driving range token per round. Clubs aren’t included in the cost, but you can rent a set for an additional $70.
