The FedEx Cup season ended with a bang on Sunday evening as Lucas Glover wrapped up things up in style from Greensboro, North Carolina. He shot a two under 68 to take the final tournament before the playoffs start and on top of a big pay day, he is also awarded 500 FedEx Cup points, which was enough to qualify him for the postseason.

Glover holds off the field

Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover came into the final round tied at -18, and were the last pairing to tee off on Sunday from Sedgefield Country Club. The final round was interrupted by a thunderstorm when Horschel and Glover were on the 14th hole.

Glover and Russell Henley were tied at -20 when the horn sounded as the storm came rolling through. Horschel dropped down the leaderboard and went into the pause at -18 and ended the day at -16.

Thomas just misses playoffs

Since it was the final tournament of the FedEx Cup season there was drama all around as players scrambled to try to finish in the to 70 of the standings. One of the most dramatic scenes played out on 18 as Justin Thomas needed a birdie that would have secured him a spot in the playoffs, but his chip from the front of the green hit the cup and bounced out as he dropped to the ground in desperation before tapping in for par.

Thomas would end up finishing 71st in the FedEX Cup standings, missing out on the playoffs by one spot. Glover however won’t be missing out on the postseason, with his win in Greensboro, he jumped 63 spots, to No. 49.

Glover fends of field after break

Once play restarted, it was Glover who stayed steady, parring the final four holes to hold off the rest of the field to win the Wyndham Championship. The restart wasn’t as kind to Henley who finished his round with three bogeys.

Glover’s win earned him 500 FedEX Cup points and the $1,368,000 share of the $7.8 million dollar purse.
