Scottie Scheffler’s victory at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass handed the American golfer a return to the number one spot in the world rankings, pushing him ahead of Spain’s Jon Rahm. And the prize money was certainly nothing to sniff at.

Number one Scheffler in the PGA millions

As well as the prestige, Scheffler’s efforts at The Players also saw him pocket a succulent financial prize for his victory. As champion, Scheffler takes a purse of 4.5 million dollars, one of the largest financial prizes on the PGA golf circuit, after the total prize money increased this year to $25 million. It’s the American’s sixth triumph in his last 27 PGA tour starts.

The victory in The Players also sees Scheffler add a further 600 points for the FedEx Cup ranking, which sees the best golfers of the year battle it out for the last major title of the season and qualify for the final three tournaments: the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship.
