The tournament, conducted as an official PGA Tour event since 1972, offers a substantial amount of money for the golfer who ends up lifting the trophy.

One of the most awaited golf events, the John Deere Classic, takes place from July 6-9 at the TPC Deere Run in Moline, Illinois, which has hosted the competition since 2000.

Since it will be played two weeks before the Open Championship, quite a few top players have chosen to skip the competition, a mainstay on the calendar for decades.

A total of 156 players will be looking to win the event, headlined by Cameron Young, Denny McCarthy, Russell Henley Ludvig Aberg, and defending champion J.T. Poston.

Young, the highest-ranked player taking part in the event and last year’s PGA Tour rookie of the year, will be looking to get his first PGA Tour win, as well as world No. 34 Denny McCarthy.

The 30-year-old American has enjoyed his most successful year and will try to replace JT Poston as the winner of the event.

The tournament offers the players a chance to earn entry into The Open if they finished in the top five, but also a big amount of money to the winner.

The total purse for the 2023 John Deere Classic is $7.4 million, a $300,000 increase from last year, while the winning player will go home with $1,332,000.
