How much money will the winner of the 2024 Genesis Invitational earn?
The Genesis Invitational has a purse of $20 million - a fifth of that will go to the winner: $4 million for a single winner, a $3.1 million split if two players are tied in first place, $2,533,333.25 if three players are tied and $2.15 million if four players are tied. For finishing second, a cash prize of $2.2 million is up for grabs for a sole winner, which corresponds to 11 per cent of the purse, or $1.8 million per player if two are tied. Third place comes with a cash prize of $1.4 million - 7 per cent of the purse, with a million dollars going to the player who ends fourth. All of the cash prizes will be split if players are tied. The player who finishes 70th won’t go home empty-handed either - they stand to gain a consolation of $32,000.
The tournament will be played from 15-18 February at the Riviera Country Club. For those who are keen to watch the action unfold, we’ve pulled together a handy guide to provide more information on viewing options. The event will be broadcast live by ESPN+ and the Golf Channel with CBS airing the afternoon action on Saturday and Sunday. There will also be live radio coverage on SiriusXM and PGATOUR.com/liveaudio.
This year’s Genesis Invitational will also see Tiger Woods using a new ball - an upgrade of the Bridgestone TOUR B XS - a softer ball with more spin, which will go on sale to the general public on Friday. According to the manufacturers, the 2024 TOUR B X features a softer cover and added a mid-layer and is designed for players “with swing speeds over 105 mph who are looking for increased distance”.
It will also be Woods’ 15th appearance at the Riviera Country Club - the venue where he made his PGA Tour debut as a 16-year-old in 1992. Strange as it may seem, he has yet to win at Riv - only finishing as a runner-up finish in 1999 and in the top 10 on two other occasions (fifth in 2003, seventh in 2004).
