How much prize money does the winner get at the Valero Texas Open?
The Valero Texas Open, the final event before the Masters in Augusta, has been played since yesterday, April 4, at TPC San Antonio.
The upcoming golf tournament held at TPC San Antonio will feature an impressive line-up of top golfers, including Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Max Homa, and Collin Morikawa. Although it is not a PGA Tour signature event, it provides an excellent opportunity for players to qualify for the first Major tournament of the season, which will take place in Augusta, Georgia.
This year, the tournament is offering a prize money payout of $9.2m, an increase of $300,000 from last year’s event. Players will compete for a chance to win the grand prize of $1.656m and 500 FedEx Cup points.
Four of the top 10 players in the world, including McIlroy, Brian Harman, Ludvig Aberg, and Max Homa, are already qualified for the Masters and will participate in this tournament without any worries. Additionally, Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood, ranked 11 and 12, respectively, will also participate in the event.
McIlroy, who is the current world No. 2, is the favorite to win the tournament, with odds of +1000. However, the defending champion, Corey Conners, will attempt to win the event for the third time and become a repeat winner. Last year, Conners took home $1.602 million for his victory.
With the tournament set to witness some of the biggest names in golf, players will undoubtedly have to bring their A-game to the course.
