When the last pair standing in the 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational finally hoists the trophy on offer, they will do so knowing that there is also a hefty paycheck waiting for them as well. The question is of course, ‘how much are we talking?

2023 Grant Thornton Invitational: The Purse

As we head into the second round of play in the 2023 Grant Thornton Invitational, it’s the team of Nelly Korda and Tony Finau that holds a one-shot lead over Leona Maguire/Lucas Glover and Megan Khang/Denny McCarthy at 16 under. Not far behind them are Sahith Theegala and Rose Zhang - fan favorites - who are currently two back at 14 under. Saturday’s session will of course see the field switch to Foursomes, while the final round on Sunday will feature a “Modified fourball” format to determine who wins the tournament. You can read more about the formats used and the teams here. Yet, what we’re really here for is the details of the purse that’s on offer.

Indeed, the sixteen two-person teams, each consisting of one PGA Tour player and one LPGA player will be doing battle for a sizeable paycheck at the Tiburon Golf Club. With a total of $4 million up for grabs and a $1 million payday for the winning team, the tournament is not dealing in chump change. Though Korda and Finau currently lead the field, there are still two rounds of play to go, against a collection of stars that include the likes LPGA’s World No. 1 Lilia Vu, U.S. Women’s Open champ Allisen Corpuz and Olympic gold medalist Nelly Korda. Hailing from the PGA Tour you’ve also got Rickie Fowler, Jason Day and Justin Rose to name a few. This is all to say, expect some twists and turns this weekend as they all try to get their hands on that cash.
