How much will Canelo make in his next fight against Berlanga?
The Guadalajara native will try to record another win in his resume in a substantial payday against the Brooklyn native.
Saul Alvarez is already thinking about his next opponent, Edgar Berlanga, for his upcoming fight on September 14.
The Mexican superstar will be defending his super middleweight crown against the young and undefeated Brooklyn-bred talent at T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas.
Canelo is a massive favorite to come out on top and most boxing pundits have him winning the clash, although Berlanga has admitted he’s ready for the challenge and will do whatever it takes to pull off the upset and become the king at 168 lbs.
Alvarez has been criticized for not taking on top fighters like David Benavidez or avoiding a rematch with Dmitry Bivol, but the 34-year-old fighter doesn’t seem very bothered and has admitted on different occasions he won’t take on Benavidez or another top boxer for less than $200 million.
How much will Canelo make against Berlanga?
Canelo is one of the best boxers Mexico has ever seen and one of the biggest names in the sport in recent years, but he’s also a good businessman.
He knows he’s the money fight wherever and whoever he fights due to his prolific career and boxing style and wants to take advantage of it.
Canelo will earn $35 million to meet Berlanga inside the ring in September, but will also take home other percentages regarding the PPV event and the number of tickets sold, which will see the initial amount increase to $65 million.
Will he fight Benavidez or Bivol after the Berlanga clash? Very unlikely. Benavidez got tired of waiting for Canelo and moved up to the light heavyweight division, where he’s waiting for the winner of the Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol fight. And Canelo would only look for a revenge match with Bivol at 175 lbs, but the undefeated fighter is not interested in another fight in his weight class.
