Is Floyd Mayweather returning to the ring? Who is his next opponent?

The American boxer will indeed be getting his gloves on once again as he continues to draw in fans with exhibition fights.

Floyd Mayweather Jr is about to return to the ring. The promoter of ‘Money’ told TMZ Sports that the American boxer is now ready to continue his exhibition fights, and has lined up John Gotti III, an MMA fighter and professional boxer.

When will Mayweather fight Gotti III?

The formal announcement is expected to be made on Thursday with the fight between the two to take place on June 11 at the FLA Live Arena, in the state of Florida. However, the president of the Money Team, James McNair confirmed that it would also be a great musical spectacle.

It is not a surprise that the event could be a show, since Mayweather is known for always giving one, and the special guest for the event is said to be none other than the urban genre artist from Puerto Rican, Ozuna.

“Floyd was the first to start the exhibition concept, and everyone followed. Now he’s adding some spice to the mix. A boxing showcase and musical performances all under one roof,” said McNair.

Who is John Gotti III?

Surely the name of John Gotti will ring a bell (and not just after the end of a round, ahem) as one of the great criminal geniuses and head of the Gambino mafia family in New York. Gotti III is the grandson, but his career never really got off the ground and as of 2017 he had a 5-1 record in MMA.

He switched to boxing last October, turning pro with a four-round unanimous decision victory over American Albert Tulley. Gotti returned to the ring in January with a first-round knockout of compatriot Alex Citrowske.

Since his retirement, Mayweather has had some exhibition fights against celebrities such as YouTubers Logan Paul and Deji, as well as kickboxer Aaron Chalmers, whose February fight was the last for the American.
