Is Gervonta Davis retiring after the fight against Lamont Roach? This is what we know
Davis will be back in the ring this weekend to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight belt against Lamont Roach.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis (30-0-0 with 28 knockouts) is back in the ring this weekend to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight belt against Lamont Roach (25-1-1, 10 KO), a champion in the lower super featherweight division.
Saturday’s Brooklyn fight could be one of the last times we see the Baltimore native in action after his comments just two months ago when the 30-year-old fighter announced that he is tired of fighting and contemplating walking away from boxing.
During a press conference late last year ahead of Saturday’s fight against Lamont Roach, Davis spoke of his future in the ring and alluded his plans to retire after 2025.
“After next year, I’m out of it,” the fighter stated. “Yeah, out of this sport…Sh*t’s trash. This sh*t is trash, garbage. Fed up. I’m fed up with the whole sh*t…I just want to be able to make money and stay out the way, that’s it. I want to be living without being seen.”
Davis added that he wants to fight in at least three more bouts before he walks away from the ring for good although “Tank” hasn’t fought more than two times in a full year since 2019.
