Jaime Munguia - John Ryder live online, round by round, stats and updates

In what should prove to be a thrilling bout, we’ve got a Brit taking on one of Mexico’s rising stars in the main event. Yet, it’s got to be said that the undercard is absolutely stacked and even includes two title fights. Let’s take a look.

Jaime Munguia vs John Ryder: The lay of the land

When Jaime Munguia and John Ryder step into the ring at Phoenix’s Footprint Center on Saturday, January 27th, it will be with the intention of stamping their authority on the super middleweight division. Indeed, both men look primed to do just that after some eye-catching performances in 2023, albeit in widely different ways.

Where Ryder is concerned, the Brit comes into the fight on a record of 32-6 with 18 KOs, following a loss to Mexican icon Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in Guadalajara. What’s interesting to note is that although the 35-year-old was floored in round five before finally losing by unanimous decision, it was clear that the Mexican public had taken a liking to him after a brave and daring performance. Indeed, we have to imagine that the way in which he endeared himself to fight fans down south likely played a role in his being chosen as the man that Munguia will face. Speaking of Munguia, at 42-0 with 33 KOs, it’s clear that the Mexican knows his way around the canvas. Ironically, there were doubts about his ability to cut it just last year. Fortunately, the 27-year-old was able to overcome his Ukrainian opponent, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, in a bout that many are calling Fight of the Year contender. This is all to say, we’ve got an intriguing battle on our hands this weekend.
