Jermell says he will beat Canelo and face Crawford next

Jermell Charlo is confident he will become undisputed champion at super middleweight and said he will drop back down to 154 to fight Crawford.

While all the praises and glory have gone to Terence Crawford after his impressive performance against Errol Spence Jr., Jermell Charlo has been working and getting ready to face Saúl Álvarez at super middleweight.

Charlo has had to bulk up, as he will go up two weight classes to be able to challenge Canelo for all the marbles and try to emulate Crawford’s success by becoming the second boxer ever to become undisputed in two different divisions.

Jermell, who will be stripped of his belts at 154 as soon as he faces Canelo, said he plans to come back to that weight class to face Crawford after the Canelo mega bout.

It will certainly be a big challenge for Mell, as he has been inactive for more than a year now due to a hand injury, which prevented him to face Tim Tszyu at light middleweight.

Jermell wants to “shock the world”

Charlo (35-1-1) was called out by Crawford during the Crawford-Spence Jr fight, as ‘Bud’ let him know he wanted him to be his next opponent while he was dismantling The Truth at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas one week ago.

Taking to social media, Charlo revealed what his plans are for the upcoming months, sending a message to Crawford.

Bout to shock the world (168). Then I’m coming back to hold my throne down (154). I’m the king. Nothing will stop me. Mega fights here on out. After my boy rematch we can give the people what they want and make the @budcrawford happen!

Canelo was set to face Jermell’s brother Jermall at first, but the American had been out of the ring for more than two years and was now dealing with some personal issues, which made Mell the perfect opponent for the Mexican superstar.

While Jermell has been very vocal about his future intentions regarding his two next fights, he hasn’t talked about Tszyu, one of the most promising rising stars in boxing.
