The heavyweight champion revealed on social media that he knows when he will return to the octagon. “I’ll let Dana (White) announce that”.

Jon Jones already has a date to return date to the cage. The heavyweight champion couldn’t make his title defense against Stipe Miocic in November due to an injury that required him to undergo surgery. However, he shared on social media that the UFC will soon announce his next fight. “I have a date, I’ll let boss man Dana announce that,” he posted on his X account.

Jones is one of the UFC’s main attractions. The American is considered by many the best fighter in the company’s history, even by Dana White himself. He became the youngest champion ever when he won the light heavyweight belt, at 23, and successfully defended it 11 times. Bones stayed away from the cage for three years and returned in March last year to become the heavyweight champion by submitting Ciryl Gane in the first round.

In November he was scheduled to make his first heavyweight title defense against Stipe Miocic. However, Jones suffered a muscle injury in his chest that caused him to undergo surgery and be out of competition for a few months. That break made him lose his No. 1 pound-for-pound status. Now he has announced on his social networks that he has a date for his return and is waiting for the the UFC president to announce it. Jones could be back for UFC 309, a card that will be held in November in New York, at Madison Square Garden, the mecca of contact sports.

Aspinall, the interim champ

Tom Aspinall is the interim heavyweight champion and he’s waiting for a title opportunity. The Brit, who will likely be one of the main attractions at UFC 304, in Manchester, challenged Jones, but Bones said he had no interest in facing him soon.

The Rochester native shared a message on X asking fans who they want his next opponent to be between Aspinall and Alex Pereira.

“Right now, the guy is playing games again, trying to convince the public what he wants and what he doesn’t want, which he does really, really well. As I said, we can chat about Jon, if and when he ever signs a contract with my name on the other side of it. Because right now, let’s be honest, it’s not looking very likely”, the interim champ said to TNT Sports. The Brit didn’t like that Jones can be interested in a fight with Pereira, the light heavyweight champion, as he had been waiting for a clash for the heavyweight belt.
