Jon Rahm furious after making bogey on 18 at Valderrama Saturday: What did the LIV golfer say after missing a putt?

Things weren’t going so well for the Spanish player in Andalusia at the weekend and he reacted with a few choice local swear words.

Update:

It’s been tough at the Real Club Valderrama for those competing in the LIV Golf Andalucía tournament. Day 1′s best round came from Dean Burmester who shot a 5-under 66. There were only seven of the 54 players in the field that ended under par, the fewest in a single round of any LIV Golf regular-season tournament.

Sweary Rahm signs off Valderrama Day 2

Local player John Rahm, for his part, shot a 2-over 73 as he made his first start in Spain since joining LIV Golf in the offseason. Then came Day 2 and a horrible finish to a much improved round. Looking to make his fifth birdie of the day on the final hole, he missed a very gettable putt – leaving him with a 2-under 69 – and he was more than happy to share his feelings about that error, as you can testify to in this clip.

Speaking, or should I say shouting in his native Spanish, Rahm is heard saying: “El puto día entero igual. Me cago en Dios!” This translates literally as “The whole fucking day the same. I shit on God!”

It’s worth noting that Spaniards have somewhat of a flair when it comes to swearing and there are many uses of excrement and religion in their myriad expressive phrases. While there are various alternative translations for this latter one, I’d suggest that the most accurate is “God damn it” although feeling his rage it may be closer to “Jesus f’ing Christ!”

Rahm’s Legion XIII teammates Hatton and Surratt shot a 68 and 72, respectively. On the individual leaderboard the Spanish star sits tied for 11th at evens. Anirban Lahiri is at -7 and has a four-shot lead from Danny Lee (-3), with three others – Chacarra, Kaymer and Hatton – a further shot behind.
