The fight, one of the most anticipated in early 2024, is just around the corner. How much will Joshua and Ngannou make?

Everything is ready in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for one of the biggest crossover fights ever. Anthony Joshua will step into the ring to take on one of the most feared and powerful fighters in MMA history, Francis Ngannou.

The British boxer is the favorite to get his hand raised in the 10-round event, although the former UFC heavyweight champion is a live underdog.

While AJ possesses the experience and has a great amateur background, the Cameroonian-French warrior proved that anything can happen in a boxing ring, especially when having full determination and will to accomplish goals.

That’s what happened in his only boxing bout so far, against the undefeated heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The Gipsy King was massively favored to win the fight, but in the end, things were very tight, with Fury getting a split-decision victory, although many felt Ngannou won the contest.

Joshua vs Ngannou: purse and prize money

The reason why this is one of the most-anticipated fights in 2024 is that both fighters have the power to end the fight at any given moment. Both are big, strong men, and many fans will be watching the fight to see if Ngannou can repeat his performance against Fury.

Whoever gets his hand raised will be set for another big payday, as he will take on the Fury-Oleksandr Uysk winner in a fight where all the heavyweight belts will be on the line.

But before that happens, both men will be granted a huge amount of money for facing each other. According to Forbes, the estimated fight purse will be worth an estimated $70 million. Joshua will make $50 million, while Ngannou will take home $20 million. Those figures don’t include PPV sales and additional fight bonuses.

Ngannou is expected to compete against PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira soon, but The Predator has announced that even if he loses the fight against Joshua, he will keep featuring in boxing matches.

From a financial point of view, boxing might well be Ngannou’s best shot, as he will make way more money in the Joshua bout than in any of his fights in the UFC. If he pulls off the upset and beats AJ, a fight for all the marbles would automatically translate into a much bigger purse for Ngannou.
