Joshua vs Wallin purse money: How much will they make and how will they split it?

The Day of Reckoning in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday will see one of the most talent-stacked cards ever square off in a huge event for world boxing.

The headline event is Anthony Joshua vs Otto Wallin, as Joshua looks to rebuild following the loss of his world titles to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021.

Holding the fight in Saudi Arabia means that the fighters will be in line for a hefty payday, win or lose.

Boxing purses are notoriously difficult to predict, with on-site ticket sales and PPV buys factored in to the final amount, but Anthony Joshua stands to pocket between $10 and $12 million.

Otto Wallin will make considerably less at around $1 million for his participation, but this is still over three times more than his $200k deal for fighting Tyson Fury.

Normally in boxing matches, there will be an additional purse for the winner of the bout, but this exact amount is not yet known. And of course, the final deal will include a portion of the gate and PPV sales, which will not be known until many weeks after the event. So there could be a huge bonus to the fighters in the New Year.

In any event, if rumors are to be believed, AJ’s payout might just be the tip of the iceberg. After reportedly agreeing a two-fight deal between Deontay Wilder to take place in Saudi Arabia in March, the cat was somewhat let out of the bag when Wilder said that the fee for that bout would be in the $50 million range.

It would be reasonable to assume that both Joshua and Wilder would receive a similar amount, with both men being of equal pulling power for PPV eyeballs, meaning that Joshua’s $200 million fortune may be added to in a big way.
