Logan Paul files a defamation lawsuit against Ryan Garcia over Prime Hydration
The elder brother of Jake Paul says the controversial boxer has been spreading misinformation about his Prime Hydration drinks.
Ryan Garcia is in the spotlight, but not for good reasons. After his B sample showed up as positive for the banned PED Ostarine after his victory over Devin Haney, ‘KingRy’ has another problem now, Logan Paul.
The social media celebrity and businessman filed a lawsuit against Garcia, as he considers that the boxer has been spreading misinformation about his Prime Hydration drinks.
Paul stated that his company filed a defamation and libel lawsuit against Garcia in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas for comments he made about Prime over the last weeks.
The influencer defended Prime on his Instagram account announcing the lawsuit, also mentioning Garcia’s positive PED tests.
“I’ve had to spend the last couple of months dismantling ridiculous claims about Prime, and it’s become obvious — Prime is under attack. Why? We’re a threat. Prime is the most disruptive beverage in history and our competitors feel the pressure. It’s likely that we’ve been targeted as the victim of a smear campaign”, Paul wrote.
“Clout chasers know they can use PRIME’s goodwill for attention & views. People don’t like me or KSI. That’s fine. But if you don’t like Prime, don’t drink it. No need to lie about the facts in an attempt to stay relevant”, he added.
Ryan Garcia’s answer to Logan Paul: “You are a b****!
If the situation got quite tense after Paul’s post confirming he was taking legal action against Garcia, things got out of control when the boxer responded to the Instagram post.
“You’re a b****! I’m going to take everything from you. Including the food out of your kids mouths,” then “Go pray to your god” and “Your gonna be sorry like the kids in Gaza”, KingRy said.
Right after that, Paul didn’t hesitate to comment on his Instagram post about Garcia’s response.
“This was Ryan’s response, by saying I’m killing kids. Dog, I don’t even know what you’re talking about. You don’t have my number, I don’t have your number, and yet you continue to lie. This is why we’re suing you for defamation. You are so stupid. Prime has a thousand employees dog, we’re a multi-billion-dollar business. It’s not just me, so we’re certainly not going to let you come in here and damage the company for attention. And by the way, the lawsuit, the suit we’re filing, is in Texas, so there’s a mutual combat law if you’re feeling some type of way and want to duke it out outside the courtroom.”
Ryan Garcia, out of control
Garcia, one of the most followed boxers on social media, has also been one of the most controversial athletes over the last months.
After taking a break from boxing to take care of his mental health and fight depression, he came back focused on boxing, or at least that’s what he said.
Weeks before his super fight against super lightweight champion Devin Haney, he started behaving strangely, with very enigmatic and bizarre posts on his social media accounts and seemingly struggling with his mental health in interviews heading into the fight against The Dream.
After the fight, Garcia said it was all a part of a strategy, and while many believed those mind games worked against Haney, it turned out that his victory had very little to do with all that.
Garcia, who missed weight by three pounds and subsequently lost $1.5 million to Haney because of a bet he proposed about making weight, tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine. The California native said it was all “fake news”, but a B sample confirmed he took the prohibited substance.
