Mayweather Jr. vs Geordie Shore star in an exhibition bout

The all-time great Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face Aaron Chalmers in his long-awaited UK debut after retiring from professional boxing in 2017.

Update:
The all-time great Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face Aaron Chalmers in his long-awaited UK debut after retiring from professional boxing in 2017.

Floyd Mayweather, with a 50-0 record as a professional, is considered one of the best boxers of all time and after he retired from the sport it seems he wants to keep making history in the economic field, as he’s already one of the wealthiest athletes ever.

Two of his nicknames, TBE (The best ever), and Money seem to confirm it and since the Michigan native hung up the gloves more than five years ago, he has been active by fighting in six exhibition bouts.

His seventh one will take place for the first time in the UK, at the 02 Arena in London, when he faces reality show Geordie Shore star Aaron Chambers on February 25th.

Chalmers holds a 1-0 record in boxing, and he has been in some mixed martial arts fights too, but it seems quite unlikely he can put Mayweather in trouble when both of them collide.

Will the Mayweather name be enough to sell?

Even if it’s an exhibition fight, the fans attending the 02 Arena or even watching on TV would expect Mayweather’s opponent to offer some resistance or even land some punches, but Palmers probably isn’t the kind of rival most boxing fans expected here.

It’s understandable that in terms of audience, watching a reality show star fight could represent an attractive offer, as has been proved with some Youtubers and streaming stars fighting against each other or facing MMA fighters in a boxing match.

However, the gap between Money and Chalmers may just be too big even if Mayweather will be 46 when both men get into the ring, so regarding the ticket prices and the PPV fees, one may wonder who would pay to see that fight.

Mayweather was scheduled to face Muay Thai fighter Liam Harrison in a boxing match, but he suffered a knee injury and the fight was called off after being announced.
