McGregor targets Canelo and De la Hoya: “I want them in a bare-knuckle boxing match”

After Canelo and the Golden Boy nearly came to blows in the final presser for this Saturday’s fight, Conor McGregor wants to take full advantage of the situation.

Canelo Álvarez and Óscar de la Hoya, facing each other at the press conference for Saturday's fight with Jaime Munguía.

It would seem that nothing remains of the previously good relationship between Óscar de la Hoya and Canelo Álvarez (62-2-2, 39 KO). In the runup to the Cinco de Mayo weekend bout that will see the undisputed super middleweight king put it all on the line against Jaime Munguía (43-0-0, 34 KO), the bad blood nearly spilled over, with both men nearly set on each other. As they say, “where there is muck, there is brass,” and Conor McGregor sees opportunity in this.

Canelo and De la Hoya were squaring off when security separated them. It started when de la Hoya said, “It seems like he has trouble remembering who helped him become a global star. I only have respect for Canelo Álvarez as a boxer, his record and skill speak for themselves, but he has spent the last two months insulting me instead of promoting this fight. Golden Boy built Canelo Álvarez, the company for which you fought for decades and which has a name: mine. Give me some fucking respect.

Canelo immediately fired back, accusing the Golden Boy of stealing money from his boxers. “And for this idiot on my left, don’t forget that I already came as Canelo to the United States, and that he always profited from my name, he never lost a single cent, but more than that, he made money. Have you already paid Golovkin what you wanted to steal from him? The only thing this man does is be a scourge of boxing, stealing from boxers. For whoever is with him, please bring in lawyers because he is surely stealing from them. It’s the only thing he comes to do in boxing. And the only thing he comes to do is steal attention from Jaime Munguía, he doesn’t come to promote him.

McGregor and the perfect business

Conor McGregor is a businessman and he doesn’t miss a single thing. The Irishman, who is scheduled to make his grand return to the UFC on June 29 with Michael Chandler after almost three years away from competition, became co-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, the bare-knuckle boxing organization. In addition to the fact that he himself wants to get into the ring before the end of the year, he ‘signed’ a fight.

After seeing the confrontation between De la Hoya, a retired six-division world champion, and Canelo, The Notorious shared through his social networks that he wants to make a bare-knuckle bout between the two in his organization. “I’d love these two go at it Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Take off the gloves and fight, bitch!” Conor posted.

That could be a fight well worth watching!
