Monaco: “Alcaraz will either manage himself or at 22 he will be on crutches”

Carlos Alcaraz’s game has proven to be one of the most spectacular and exciting to watch in the last few years.

He’s regarded as the main Big Three successor and at only 19 he has managed to become the world No. 1, win the US Open, and lift the title in three ATP Masters 1000 tournaments.

However, the young star has been dealing with some injury issues after winning his first major and during the Rio de Janeiro final, while he announced this week he wouldn’t be competing at the Monte Carlos Masters due to soreness after his efforts in Indian Wells and Miami.

“After two months of competing, I’m happy to be back home but sad that I finished my semi-final match in Miami with soreness,” Alcaraz recently said on social media.

“After visiting my doctor in Murcia today and being evaluated, I will not be able to go to Monte Carlo to start the tour on the ground”, he added.

Alcaraz should make less aggressive moves

According to former tennis player and Eurosport commentator Guido Monaco, Alcaraz will have a serious problem if he keeps making the same movements until now, even if his style of play has reported him lots of success.

“Alcaraz has to learn to manage himself because otherwise if he goes on like this, he’ll end up on crutches at 22″, he said.

He can’t do 80 splits a game, even though we’re talking about a very gifted athlete. He mentioned a problem with his left hand and back. It went well for him, seeing as he spent half the tournament in splits, that’s something he has to learn”, Monaco added.

“Djokovic, who has a similar type of defensive game, sips certain plays. He, on the other hand, is exuberant at the highest level and is exposed to a few too many injuries”, he concluded.
