New date confirmed for the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight
The original date of 20 July was cancelled given Tyson’s health problems relating to ulcers with the fight now to go ahead mid November.
A new date has been confirmed for the long-awaited return of the legendary Mike Tyson to the ring as he is set to face YouTuber Jake Paul with the fight initially scheduled to take place on July 20 of this year at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (home of the Dallas Cowboys).
Tyson, suffered an ulcer flare-up during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles recently and this medical situation prompted the event organizers to prioritize his well-being and reschedule the fight. Both fighters remained committed for the bout to happen and there were never any plans in place for canceling the fight.
“I fully support postponing the event so Mike Tyson has no excuses come fight night,” said Jake Paul. The YouTuber, who has made waves in the boxing world with his unorthodox journey from social media stardom to professional fighting, expressed confidence in his abilities. “When he steps into the ring with me, I will be ready to claim my W with a sensational finish.”
There was brief speculation that another boxer may have been drafted in to replace ‘Iron Mike’ with Roy Jones Jr.’s name being linked but after a positive prognosis regarding his health situation, it will be the former heavyweight champion who steps into the ring in Dallas on 15 November with the fight set to be broadcast live on the popular streaming platform Netflix.
