The PGA Tour announced its plan for the 2023 FedExCup Fall on Wednesday, consisting of seven events already familiar to players and will have more instant consequences than ever before.

Starting this year, only the top 70 players off the FedEx Cup points list through the 2023 TOUR Championship qualify for the PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs, and their full playing status for the following season is guaranteed. What’s new now is that players outside the top 50 will carry their FedExCup Points from the regular season and first playoff event into the FedExCup Fall and continue to rack up points to finalize eligibility for the 2024 season. That means they will be able to earn PGA Tour exemptions, enter designated events, and access increased prize money.

2023 FedEx Cup Fall benefits, prize money

Prize money: There will be a total of $56.6 million in prize money throughout the fall schedule, which is about $8 million purses per event.

Event winners: The players who win the seven events will still earn their two-year PGA Tour exemption as well as entry into the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January, the first event of the 2024 season. Additionally, they will gain entry into The PLAYERS Championship and the four major tournaments that have previously invited PGA Tour winners.

Entry into Designated events: Ten not previously eligible players with the most season-long FedExCup points through the FedExCup Fall will earn places in the first two designated events that follow the Sentry Tournament of Champions. This will provide a path for players outside the top 50 on the regular-season points list to make it into these $20 million tournaments.

Entry into THE PLAYERS Championship – Players not previously eligible can use the FedExCup Fall to play their way into THE Championship.

PGA TOUR President Tyler Dennis communicated that they are “launching the most meaningful updates to the PGA TOUR season since 2007, the first year of the FedExCup. The reimagining of our schedule – from the Regular Season with Designated and Full-Field events to the FedExCup Playoffs and culminating with the FedExCup Fall – creates distinct but connected ‘chapters,’ and within this new framework, the FedExCup Fall is now more than ever an integral part of that compelling story. There will be so much at stake – and more immediate payoffs – as opportunities are unlocked in the FedExCup Fall for the season to come.”
