Promising ice hockey talent dies age 19 in Ibiza following balcony fall

Scottish ice hockey is mourning the death of Dundee Stars player Gary Kelly in Ibiza.

According to several media reports, the 19-year-old Kelly fell from a third-floor balcony at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel in Sant Antoni de Portmany for reasons that are still unknown. Despite the medical response following the alert, Kelly died from the injuries sustained in the fall.

Shortly after the news of Kelly’s death broke, the Ibiza Rocks Hotel announced the suspension of scheduled concerts at the venue, as this was the second death from similar causes in recent weeks.

The Dundee Stars, Kelly’s home team, have expressed their grief over the loss of a player many considered one of the future stars of Scottish ice hockey. “The Dundee Stars are completely devastated to learn that Gary Kelly has passed away. We send our thoughts and condolences to Gary’s family, his girlfriend, and all his friends at this very difficult time. Everyone at the club, including players, staff, management, and owners, is devastated to hear this tragic news. Gary was a tremendous talent and charisma that looked to him for a bright future.
