The ongoing battle between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour continues.

LIV players Talor Gooch, Matt Jones and Hudson Swafford are seeking relief to compete at this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. The former PGA Tour trio filed a temporary restraining order against the PGA Tour last week to allow them to play in the tournament, along with eight other LIV players, including Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau.

The hearing is taking place in San Jose today, and according to golf journalist Alan Shipnuck, the judge in California said she’s “inclined” to allow these players to compete this week.

Scheffler ‘frustrated,’ ‘surprised’ by LIV Players suing PGA

On the other hand, one prominent PGA star is already speaking out against these players and their lawsuits. Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked player, sounded off on these players’ decision to sue the PGA Tour, and is “curious to see what’s going to happen.”

“It’s one of those deals where those guys kind of made their decision to go join another tour and they broke the rules and regulations of our tour and now they’re trying to sue us, which is definitely a bit frustrating. I heard that was going to happen and I know some guys aren’t surprised to see it, but I definitely am surprised to see some guys now suing us,” said Scheffler.

Scheffler also shared that the Saudi-financed league, and the players who still might be defecting to it after this season, continues to be a hot topic among players in the clubhouse. Cam Smith, who reportedly just accepted the $100 million offer to join LIV Golf following the remainder of this year’s PGA Tour events, is not the only big name linked to the tour fronted by Greg Norman.

“Yeah, to each their own,” Scheffler said. “I’m not going to speak about the guys that are going to LIV and all that speculation. If that’s what they want to do, that’s what they want to do. All I’m going to do is talk about my approach. What those guys want to do and if they’re going to leave, not going to leave.”
