The Texan played some great golf on Thursday and followed up on Friday with a round of 3-under par, putting him at T3 with a total score of 8-under par. The apparent neck injury doesn’t appear to be too much for him to continue into the weekend, but we’ll have to see what the degree of the soreness is after he finishes his round

Scheffler is looking to defend his Players Championship title from last year and it’ll take more than a sore neck to keep him from competing. We are waiting to hear what exactly the injury entails.

Scottie Scheffler’s injury history

The World No. 1 golfer hasn’t had too many problems with injuries over the years despite his swing “The Scheffler shuffle” that is his unorthodox way of hitting the ball with a lot of movement in the feet and lower legs. The most notable “injury” was in 2022 at the British Open he experienced discomfort in his “lower back” region. “Probably TMI, but I had what’s called a pilonidal infection. It’s an infection at the top of your butt crack. You can look it up,” he said. “It was really hard for me to bend down. It was really hard for me to make a swing on Sunday. Walking was actually extremely difficult.”

Will Scheffler be able to play this weekend?

We still don’t have confirmation, but in the meantime no news is good news. The World No. 1 is at the top of the rankings thanks to his incredible golf game and the fact that he doesn’t miss tournaments. We’d be really surprised if he had to WD.

He finished strong on Friday and remember what they say: “Beware the injured golfer.” It’s an expression that has been used on many occasions when golfers play better when injured, such as Tom Kim at the 2023 British Open, who played great golf on Saturday and Sunday while limping around Royal Liverpool.
