SIGA CEO appointed to major new roles, boosting body’s bid to promote integrity in sport
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros is to take part in the B20 Brazil Integrity & Compliance Task Force adn the EU’s Supra-National Risk Assessment process.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, the global CEO of the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA), is to take up two new major roles that stand to bolster the organisation’s efforts to promote integrity and transparency in the sporting industry.
SIGA chief appointed to B20 task force once more
Macedo de Medeiros has been named a member of the B20 Brazil Integrity & Compliance Task Force, marking his fourth consecutive year of involvement with the B20.
The Integrity & Compliance Task Force actively engages in discussions related to anti-corruption measures, ethical business practices, compliance with regulations, and the promotion of corporate governance that ensures accountability and ethical behaviour within organisations, with the goal of upholding the highest standards of business ethics and conduct.
Macedo de Medeiros’ tenure at the Integrity & Compliance Task Force has seen participation under the Italian and Indonesian presidencies in 2021 and 2022, respectively. In 2023, under India’s presidency, he then served as a member of the Task Force on Inclusive Global Value Chains for Resilient Global Trade and Investment.
Also handed European Commission role
Macedo de Medeiros’s influence will also extend to the European Union, where he has been invited by the European Commission Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union to serve as a designated representative.
In this role, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros will contribute his and SIGA’s expertise on financial integrity in sport to the Supra-National Risk Assessment (SNRA) process, which aims to evaluate and mitigate risks related to money laundering and terrorist financing within the EU.
