Sinner joins Alcaraz as a qualifier for November’s ATP Finals
The world number one Italian qualified this Friday for the tournament in which he defends his title, which will be held in November in Turin.

Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner, currently ranked No. 1 in the world, has officially secured his place at the 2025 ATP Finals—the prestigious year-end tournament featuring the top eight players on the tour. Until now, only Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, ranked No. 2, had locked in his spot.
Sinner, who recently captured his first Wimbledon title, heads into the Cincinnati Open this Saturday with his ATP Finals qualification already in the bag. As the defending champion of the season-ending event, his early qualification underscores a dominant year on tour.
The 2025 Nitto ATP Finals will take place from November 9 to 16 at the Inalpi Arena in Turin - the fifth time it has been held in the northern Italian city, with a new host city being considered for next year.

Despite serving a three-month suspension and playing five fewer tournaments than Alcaraz, Sinner secured his spot thanks to a stellar season, winning the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and reaching the final at Roland Garros.
Sinner aiming for back-to-back titles in Turin
This will be Sinner’s fourth appearance at the year-end championships finals. His first was in 2021 which he entered as an alternate. He reached the final in 2023, only to lose in straight sets (6–3, 6–3) to Novak Djokovic. And last year, he claimed his first title, overcoming Taylor Fritz 6–4, 6–4.
Sinner has held the number one spot in the ATP ranking for 60 consecutive weeks (since June 2024). Not too far behind is Carlos Alcaraz - both players are locked in a fierce race to finish the year as world No. 1. The Italian will be aiming to successfully defend his title without dropping a single set, while Alcaraz is chasing his first ATP Finals crown after reaching the semifinals in 2023.
