Steph Curry wins 2023 American Century Championship. How did it go down?

Though there was never any doubt, the Warriors star proved that he’s a sharpshooter on and off the basketball court and won a golf tournament to prove it.

Just one day after nailing a sensational hole-in-one, the NBA’s greatest shooter finished off an impressive performance in the American Century Championship to close out the tournament as the 2023 champion.

Steph Curry wins American Century Championship

On Sunday, the 2023 American Century Championship came to a close in style as the Golden State Warriors star, Steph Curry, came out on top of a celebrity-filled field to win the title. In need of an eagle on the 18th hole in the final round, Curry drained a 15-footer to ruin former tennis professional Mardy Fish’s hopes of a win. Coming into the hole, Curry was trailing Fish by 4 points, with the tournament format using a scoring system whereby a par is worth one point, while a birdie is three, an eagle six, and a bogey is zero.

With Curry on 69 points and Fish on 73, it was clear that only an eagle would have sufficed and that’s precisely what ‘Chef Curry’ served up. Of course, it’s worth noting that Fish was visibly put off by a fan who screamed as he attempted his drive at 18, but you can only defeat the opponent in front of you as they say and that’s what Curry did. Ultimately, it was a noteworthy showing from the Warriors star who as mentioned above sunk a hole-in-one on Saturday, which was actually what put him in the lead with 50 points coming into Sunday.

It’s clear that Steph Curry can play golf

To be fair to Fish, he registered four birdies on the front nine to match Curry on Sunday, and things looked to be going his way when Curry bogeyed four of the next eight holes, however, he once again reminded folks that he is in fact a very decent golfer. As for the rest of the field, there were a number of high-profile athletes such as the Dallas Stars’ Joe Pavelski who finished 3rd with 66 points. Pavelski was followed by former MLB pitcher Mark Mulder who finished with 59 points, the New York Jets’ new quarterback Aaron Rodgers who registered 56 points, and former LPGA pro, Annika Sorenstam, who scored 55 points. Incidentally, Curry’s father Dell finished in 11th place.
