Teofimo Lopez vs Jamaine Ortiz purse money: How much will they make and how will they split it?

‘The Takeover’ is the favorite and the A-side in the fight against Ortiz, but how much will they make on Saturday night?

Update:
‘The Takeover’ is the favorite and the A-side in the fight against Ortiz, but how much will they make on Saturday night?

Las Vegas will be the scenario of another thrilling night of boxing, with the return of Teofimo Lopez. The 26-year-old fighter will step into the ring against the dangerous Jamaine Ortiz, who has only tasted defeat on points against Vasiliy Lomachenko.

Lopez, who is a big favorite to emerge victorious on Saturday, will need to be at his best if he wants to get past the tricky Ortiz, as The Technician is aware he has the opportunity of a lifetime to succeed in the sport against a big name.

El Brooklyn looked better than many expected in his last fight against Josh Taylor, beating the Scottish fighter in a bout where Lopez was the underdog after an unconvincing win vs. Sandor Martin.

Meanwhile, Ortiz defeated Antonio Moran via unanimous decision in his last fight in 2023 and will want to shock the boxing community by getting his hand raised against Lopez.

Teofimo Lopez vs Jamaine Ortiz: how much will they make?

Besides making history in boxing, Lopez is a prizefighter and openly admits he wants to make as much money as possible before leaving the sport.

Lopez’s first big payday was against Lomachenko back in 2020 in what has been the biggest win so far. A year later, the young star received his second most substantial purse despite losing to the Australian, as he walked away with $2.1 million in his pocket.

The Takeover earned $1 million in his controversial split decision victory over Martin and secured a $2.3 million purse after defeating Taylor last time out.

Lopez is aware that a win against Ortiz could set a mega bout against Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia, which would likely translate into the biggest payday of his career.

It has been reported that as a reigning champion, and considering that his cache is now better, Lopez will get a purse ranging from $3 million to $4 million. Jamaine, meanwhile, is expected to bag at least $1.5 million from this bout.
