The Rangers surprised by the Panthers during Conference Final Game 1 at MSG
The Florida Panthers have taken a 1-0 lead in the Eastern Conference final series of the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Miami team won 3-0 and took a break!
Goalkeeper Sergey Bobrovsky played a paramount role in the victory for his team. The experienced Russian goalkeeper made 23 saves, 11 of which were in the last period when the match was decided. This was the second time in Bobrovsky’s career that he kept a clean sheet in the playoffs. He has played a total of 82 games (76 as a starter) in the competition for the Lord Stanley trophy. Also, on the other side, another Russian goalkeeper, Igor Shesterkin, made 24 saves for New York.
After the match, Bobrovsky said, ‘When the playoffs come, you don’t think about goals and things like that, only about wins and losses.’” Florida’s scorers were Matthew Tkachuk in the first period, as well as Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Bennett (empty net) in the third period.
The next game will also be played in “The World’s Most Famous Arena” on Friday night, Eastern time. In the Western Conference finals, the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers will play tonight at 8 p.m. ET at the American Airlines Center arena.
